Personalized alignment system

The yoga mat, mapped to your body.

Yo-Mat takes your body measurements and turns them into a custom yoga mat with printed alignment guides and placement marks — so you always know exactly where your hands, knees, elbows, and feet belong. Every session, no guesswork.

The problem

Where do your hands actually go?

A standard mat gives you a rectangle. It doesn't tell you how wide your hands belong in plank, where your knees should sit in tabletop, or whether your feet are really hip-width apart. So you guess, adjust, and guess again — every single time.

Inconsistent setup

Your hand and foot placement shifts slightly each time, so the same pose never quite feels the same twice.

One-size proportions

A grid designed for an average body doesn't account for your actual shoulder width, hip width, or torso length.

Time lost adjusting

Minutes of every session go to measuring, eyeballing, or asking someone to check your alignment before you even start.

How Yo-Mat works

From your measurements to your mat

  1. 01

    Share your measurements

Today that means a handful of manual measurements — things like shoulder width, hip width, height, and torso length. Down the road, a quick 3D body scan from my app will capture them for you automatically.

  2. 02

    I map your layout

Yo-Mat's layout system translates your measurements into a personal grid of alignment lines and placement marks.

  3. 03

    Practice on your marks

Step onto your mat and align hands, knees, and feet to marks made for your body — not an average one.

Benefits

Built for repeatable practice

Consistent starting positions

The same marks, every time, so every pose starts from the same reliable baseline.

Zero-guesswork setup

Step onto marks that are already correct instead of measuring or eyeballing it first.

Sharper alignment awareness

Clear visual references help you notice — and feel — when you drift out of position.

Built for repetition

Return to an identical setup session after session, so you can track progress, not placement.

Works across practices

Useful for yoga, mobility work, and structured exercise routines that call for precise positioning.

Cut to your measurements

Your shoulder width, hip width, height, torso length, and more — not an average body's.

Why I built this

It started on a physical therapy mat.

As a teenager with scoliosis, I struggled to do physical therapy exercises at home. Where exactly should I place my hands and knees so that they are directly beneath my shoulder and hip joints? Where should I place my feet and elbows in a plank?

I enjoy both visual arts and math. Could I measure my body, use my geometry skills to calculate the correct placement points, and draw guidelines on my mat?

I started by drawing a mat on a whiteboard, researching the geometry of the human body, identifying the measurements that needed to be taken, and developing a process for translating those measurements into coordinates for hand, foot, and knee placement in basic exercise poses.

Then I used my calculations to create my first custom yoga mat, with guidelines and placement marks tailored to my shoulder width, hip width, height, and torso length.

Now I can easily assume the correct starting positions for each exercise, maximizing my stability and helping me achieve proper alignment.
